Transportation Allowance

•  Funds are subject to availability through the Perkins Basic Grant
• Students must:
  • Attend classes on a Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) campus for a minimum of two (2) days per week.
  • Maintain enrollment in an eligible Workforce Education Program.
  • Maintain enrollment in six (6) or more semester credit hours.
  • Maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher.
  • Drive 10 or more miles round trip, from their verified home address to the campus classes are located.
• Mileage shall be calculated based on the student’s home address as provided by the student and verified against the address on file with the College using Google Maps or MapQuest.
  • Attending clinical sites cannot be calculated in the mileage.

• Transportation allowances shall be disbursed via direct deposit.
  • Students are responsible for completing and maintaining direct deposit information through My Cardinal Connect.
  • Paper checks may be mailed to the home address on file with the College upon request; however, this method may result in delayed receipt of funds.
• Disbursements will be made in September through December for Fall Semester. February through May for Spring semesters, in June for Summer 1, and July for Summer 2.

Application review award process:

• Student must complete the Perkins V Student Support application:
• Information is verified:
  • Major and course(s) enrollment
  • Hours enrolled
  • GPA
  • Class schedule (Must attend in person class at least 2 days a week
  • Special Population self-identification (1 or more Categories)
  • Residency status: U.S. citizen or eligible nonresident
• Student is notified of award
  • Transportation assistance agreement signed
  • W-9 must be completed
  • Allowance will be issued at the beginning of each month
