  • Students requesting pregnancy‑related accommodations must contact the Director of Student Success Services.
  • Pregnancy complications may qualify as a disability if they affect major life activities (e.g., doctor‑ordered bed rest).
  • Students cannot be excluded from classes or activities due to pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination, or recovery.
  • Participation in separate programs/services must be voluntary.

The U.S. Department of Education regulations 34 C.F.R. Section 106.40(b) concerning pregnancy and related conditions states:

(b)  Pregnancy and related conditions. (1) A recipient shall not discriminate against any student, or exclude any student from its education program or activity, including any class or extracurricular activity, on the basis of such student's pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy or recovery therefrom, unless the student requests voluntarily to participate in a separate portion of the program or activity of the recipient.

For more information, students can access Title IX resources through the National Women’s Law Center.
