Emotional Support Animal (ESA)
Requirements for TVCC Residence Halls

Submit the ESA request form (available online through TVCC).

The prescription/letter for the ESA must be written by a licensed professional:
- Not a family member.
- Must understand the difference between an ESA and a Service Animal.
- Must be qualified to diagnose the condition related to the ESA request.
- Must have an established, in‑person treatment relationship with the student.
- Must reside and practice in the same state as the student.

The prescription must:
- Be written for the current academic year.
- State which residence hall building the ESA is needed in.
- Be renewed every academic year with a new accommodations request.

Internet-only certificates are not accepted as documentation.

Students must provide proof of obedience training for the ESA.

All therapy and documentation must come from face‑to‑face treatment (no teletherapy, phone calls, video calls, or online evaluations).

Fraudulent documentation will result in immediate suspension from the residence hall.
