TSIA2

The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) was mandated by Texas law in 2003.  In 2021 the name was changed to TSIA2.  The pupose of the accessment is ensure that all students enrolling in public higher education in Texas possess the academic skills needed to perform effectively in college-level coursework for undergraduate certificate or degree programs. the TSIA2 includes a testing component designed to identify and provice diagnostic information about the reading, writing and mathematics skills of each student.

TSI scores or exemption are required for enrollment to TVCC.  Submit TSI scores to Student Records with your application, transcripts, and other required documentation.

College Ready Scores

Students who complete the TSIA2 assessment and meet the minimum benchmarks in effect on the date of testing will be designated as TSIA2 complete in that area. These scores will remain valid for course placement for a period of five years from the date of testing.

Students who do not receive the minimum required score are required to enroll in developmental courses or participate in other activities designed to assist the students in overcoming the academic deficiencies identified by this assessment.

Exemptions

Not sure if you are exempt from taking the TSIA2?  See if you qualify for our exemption requirements.

Blocked Courses

If you are a high school graduate or have a GED, some academic courses are blocked based on Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements. Generally, a student must pass the appropriate section on the approved TSI test, TSI Assessment, or complete the required developmental course sequence to have course blocks removed from his/her degree plan.

Dual-Credit students are not allowed to take developmental courses and must adhere to dual-credit guidelines.

ProctorU/MEAZURE LEARNING is a third-party proctoring service that allows individuals to test at an alternate location rather than utilizing a TVCC testing center. This service is provided for an additional proctoring fee to testers to be assessed each time a student takes or retakes the exam. Individuals opting to take the TSIA2 test with ProctorU/MEAZURE LEARNING are subject to the rules and guidelines established by ACCUPLACER and ProctorU/MEAZURE LEARNING and will also adhere to TVCC’s student code of conduct which details academic dishonesty, deception, and false representation.

Testing sessions receiving a "red flag notification" from remote testing will result in immediate invalidation of test scores and will require retesting.
