Police
General Information
- TVCC parking and traffic regulations are authorized by the Texas Education Code:
- Rules apply to all pedestrians, vehicles, and bicycles on any TVCC campus.
- Regulations supplement local city ordinances and Texas state law.
- Parking and traffic rules are in effect at all times.
- The College is not responsible for damage, theft, loss, or protection of vehicles.
- Parking privileges do not create a bailment relationship.
Traffic + Parking Appeals
- Citations may be appealed within 10 working days via the Campus Police website.
- Appeals filed late are final.
- The Vice President of Operations (or designee) reviews appeals.
- Decisions may reduce, uphold, or dismiss charges.
- Denied appeals must be paid within 10 working days.
- Appeal decisions are final.
Campus Police + Enforcement
- Campus Police enforce parking and traffic regulations.
- Citations may be campus or criminal court citations.
- The College may enforce rules by:
- Issuing citations and fines
- Impounding vehicles
- Suspending or denying parking permits
- Requiring administrative appearances
- Withholding grades, transcripts, degrees, or refunds
- Taking disciplinary action
- Issuing criminal court appearance citations
Liability + Vehicle Responsibility
- Traffic and parking signs are considered legally valid.
- Permit holders or vehicle owners are presumed responsible for violations.
- Vehicles parked over 48 hours without a valid permit may be deemed abandoned and disposed of.
